AGM & Annual Dinner

David Nicholls in tabling the Annual Report summarised the fund-raising undertaken throughout the year and the opportunities this had provided in distribution of funds. The Chairman made special mention of the wonderful job Andrew Ostroumoff did in fundraising at the Golf Day, which had changed its form to be a corporate golf day. In recognition of the change and how some members had expressed regret at the changing focus, the Committee has once again planned a Members’ Golf Day in November 2010.
In closing he advised that Ric Forster, Nigel French, Jenny Harper and Andrew Ostroumoff were all retiring from the Committee and thanked them for their contributions.
David McKean, Honorary Treasurer, tabled the Financial Statement for the 12 months ended 30 June 2010 which was approved unanimously, and confirmed he was restanding for re-election. He commented on how hard working committee members were in both fund raising and in seeking suitable recipients for funding. The Retiring President then declared all positions vacant, and as no other nominations had been received, the following were declared elected as the 2010 – 2011 Committee:

Neil Weekes – Hon. Secretary
David McKean – Hon. Treasurer
Members: Mark de Jager, Gary Goodman, Helen Marks, Adrian Herring, Roger Hooper, Peter Wren and Mark Hainge (UK High Commission representative).
Mr Dennis O’Connor was thanked for his work as Honorary Auditor and re-appointed for another year. The President in closing then thanked all on the Committee for their work.
The meeting closed at 7.15pm and the Chairman invited Mr Aaron Ayres who was a Junior Taverner from 2009 – 2010 to address the members at the meeting on the successes of his cricketing year.
On completion of Peter’s presentation, the members sat down to an excellent dinner and a most entertaining address by Sir Richard Hadlee – the guest speaker.
The 2010 Junior Taverners (Dean Solway & Pip Taylor) received their awards during Dinner: their financial awards were donated by Muriel Wilkinson; cricket kits by Kookaburra and presented by the guest speaker, Steven Bernard (Manager, Australian Test Team).
